The Friends of Hempland Primary School was established to further develop links between our school, pupils, parents/carers, staff and people living in our community.
Pupils, their carers and employees of the school are automatically all Friends of the school.
Our aims are to:
- Have fun together
- Raise money for the school
- Promote positive relationships between home, school and the community
In order to achieve these aims, we organise various fundraising and social events throughout the school year and we are a registered charity.
Annual activities are the end-of-term KS2 discos and the Summer and Christmas Fairs. Various other events have included a Festival of Light, talent shows, promises auctions, film nights, wine tasting, fashion shows, dances, raffles, sponsored events and lots more.
The money raised has assisted the school with landscaping, educational trips, computers hardware and software, equipment for Cook School, development of the outdoor areas for EY & Year 1 and scooter racks. We also made another major contribution towards an orchard, new garden area and a gazebo for KS2 to use as an outdoor classroom in fine weather.
We contribute every year to the Year 5 and Year 6 residential trips so that every child can benefit from this activity.
Each year we also provide each class with money towards their visits out or visitors in as we think that this is a valuable part of their school life.
Events are mainly organised by a team who are elected each year at the Welcome Meeting. Many more people volunteer to help at individual events, and we are very grateful for their enthusiasm.
For further information, contact any of the committee members via the school office where there is a list of contact numbers. We hope you and your child will have the opportunity to enjoy and take part in some of the social and fundraising events at Hempland.
