Welcome to Hempland Primary School. This website aims to give you a taste of our school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community. We are very proud of our school, our pupils and their achievements and successes, and are always keen to welcome visitors so you can see for yourself what a wonderful school we have.

At our school, you will find a caring and calm atmosphere in which high standards of education are nurtured.  Our teachers, pupils and their families build positive relationships, working in partnership successfully.

At Hempland Primary School, we teach our children the core values of Respect, Opportunity, Ambition and Resilience and these values underpin the whole of our curriculum.

We teach our children to become respectful, conscientious citizens, who consider the needs of the local community and wider world.  They contribute to their world in a meaningful and considerate way, showing kindness to others.

We aim to develop creative thinkers who embrace a wide range of opportunities in order to become rounded individuals with different interests.  We maximise the opportunities that living in York offers and this is a key driver for our curriculum.

We want our children to be aspirational, ambitious and inquisitive learners who achieve well and whose success is celebrated in all areas of their life.  We encourage all of our children to dream big.

We support children to become resilient in a changing world and prepare them for their future.

Our curriculum has been designed to maximise our wonderful location of York and the breadth of Geography and History knowledge that this location can inspire.  We have also ensured that our curriculum is text based and a broad range of quality texts have been chosen for every year group for every half term.  Our recent Ofsted inspection that took place in October 2021, found that, ‘the school has constructed a well planned and sequenced curriculum that… builds on what pupils have learned and prepares them for future learning.’

We hope that you find everything that you need on our website but if there is any further information that you need, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
