Year 3/4 had a lot to celebrate in their praise assembly this morning - topic writing, excellent behaviour on trips, confidence and contributions, figure skating, football and more. Well done to 4MB for lining up brilliantly this - you will be first in for lunch next week!
Here are this weeks superstars from EYs and KS1! So many stories of positive attitudes to learning, helping others, performers, swimmers and even a top tackler! 🤩
EYs enjoyed a super visit to Tropical this week and many of the children had their first experience of travelling by coach! They completed a scavenger hunt, devoured a picnic lunch and loved looking at all the animals in Tropical World, especially the crocodile and the meerkats!
This afternoon, Year 6 were invited by @YorkKnightsRLFC on an access-all-areas tour of @YCFCStadium. Look out for Hempland pupils on upcoming match days in celebratory videos!
Yesterday, as an extension of their science work about the human circulatory system and the heart, Y6 were given the opportunity to dissect a real heart! They identified the chambers, veins and arteries and used straws to show the movement of oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood.
Y6 visited @UoY_CS University of York Computer Science Department where they explored the '50 Years' exhibition of computing exhibition, learnt about cryptology and played their own version of Robot Wars. We especially loved meeting Pepper - the talking, tai chi expert robot!
Year 3 had a fantastic day out @YSPsculpture learning about sculpture and making lots of sketches of ideas. They all behaved brilliantly and had a great time - well done Year 3!
Our KS2 children have been enjoying the outdoor activities at lunchtime. We have a range of games, sports and books for children to use with their friends.
We are so pleased that we now have a defibrillator on our school site. We have been able to purchase this through the funds raised at our Friends of Hempland events this year. Thank you to everyone who has enabled us to achieve this. 😊
Thank you to @TangHallExplore library who visited today to tell us about the Summer Reading Challenge! #summerreadingchallenge
What an amazing day! From dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly all day (special thanks to Annie, our events organiser extraordinaire), to staff who gave up their Saturday, to kids & parents who came and supported us, THANK YOU. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did 😍🌸
Children in Years 5 and 6 have had a busy but wonderful week filled with sports days, history project work, art and production work. There were certificates for maths progress, creative writing, structure making and music success. Well done everyone!
Here are our fabulous Year 3 and 4 children who have been praised for fantastic writing, resilience in maths, encouragements in sports day, kindness, swimming, cheerleading, and 5km inflatable and muddy runs! Great work!
Year 3 have had a super afternoon practising their play scripts based on Voices in the Park by Anthony Browne!
Our sports days were off to a sunny start this morning with our fantastic EY children who all tried their best and had lots of fun! Thank you parents for coming to support and to Friends of Hempland for organising the ice cream van to come this afternoon for a well earned treat!
